Patrice Jones is a Certified Professional Coach in Wellbeing, Performance, and Transitions — all the areas necessary to keep drum corps member on the field and WGI members on the floor. She owns Patrice Jones Coaching and her passion is working with Marching Arts groups to keep them healthy, resilient, and strong. Patrice is excited to work with Industry Independent Winterguard for the 2026 season, but will be stepping back from drum corps as she starts her nursing career in critical care.
Patrice is a highly requested Health & Wellness Coach with an educational background in Music Therapy, Music Performance, Psychology, and Performance and Health & Wellness Coaching and has decades of experience working with musician athletes. Currently based in Austin, TX, Patrice worked as a Certified Health and Wellness Coach/Team Coordinator for Vanguard Music and Performing Arts in 2022, Pacific Crest Drum & Bugle Corps, the Health Team Leader for River City Rhythm, and with ORIGINS Winterguard.
Patrice possesses expertise in assessing physical, emotional, and mental issues, crafting hydration and nutrition plans, overseeing rehabilitation, and recovery protocols, and employing alternative and complementary therapies like cupping, scraping (IASTM/Graston Technique), and taping. She is well-trained in concussion assessment and recovery and incorporating various modalities for holistic health. Furthermore, Patrice holds certifications in nutrition, exercise physiology, and trust-based relational intervention (TBRI) for trauma-informed care. She brings with her access to certified athletic trainers, physical therapists, and physicians when the need arises. She is certified in basic life support (BLS) for healthcare providers, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), AED, CPR for infants, children, and adults, and first aid. Her top goal is to keep all members safe, healthy, and on the field!
Outside of her drum corps role, Patrice helps her coaching clients find their version of success and wellbeing. She works with people with chronic illnesses (both physical and mental) and chronic pain who wish to continue or improve various areas of their lives in the presence of conditions that impact their physical and mental states. Her areas of research lie in the effects of Earthing on cognitive impairment in diseases such as mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s, traumatic brain injuries, and dementia.
Patrice is also a professionally trained Collaborative Pianist who has accompanied hundreds of instrumentalists, vocalists, and groups over the past 35 years. With experience in Classical (chamber, orchestral, band), Jazz, Broadway, Salsa, Country, Gospel, Religious, and Rock genres, Patrice is a certified performance coach who works with musicians of all ages and abilities and helps them with diction, intonation, expression, ensemble playing, performance mindset, and stage fright. Drum Corps is near and dear to her heart as a front ensemble player and percussionist.
Prior to these roles, Patrice was a member of the U.S. Army Band program where she played piano, oboe and english horn, percussion, euphonium, and tuba. In high school, she did winterguard, dance, and gymnastics. Her experience and education make her uniquely qualified to assess and treat the physical injuries and illnesses of all drum corps members. Her educational background and coaching certifications prepare her to address mental health in the current social environment, and she will work with a member’s home mental health provider to ensure they continue using the customized plans laid out by those professionals that know the members best. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Concordia University Texas and will graduate in May 2026. Learning, growing, and sharing knowledge are her guiding values. She is a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the Austin Chapter of the ICF, Jewish War Veterans, Sigma Alpha Iota professional music fraternity (lifetime), and the Sigma Alpha Iota Austin Alumnae Chapter.
Patrice is married and has six children, all in college or living their dream. She is a volunteer facilitator with Austin Shmirah, and when she’s not working or studying, she loves to watch sci-fi shows and movies with her partner, Chris. She enjoys watching her child, Abby, perform with Industry Winterguard.g
